Did you replace the intake o rings/seals between the manifold and head?

You lucky sod, that job is way more awkward on a discovery 3, due to 2 crossmembers obscuring the bolts at either end

Correct both N57 and B57 are good with those flaps, dont remove them. Just clean whole manifold and put it back

Any gurus still active here? I just cleaned the whole intake manifold, the swirl flaps and it's still in limp mode. Why is that? None of the swirl flaps are broken or covered in carbon, the sensors are cleared and carbon free, no check engine, no warning lights on the dash, it's idling really nice..I'm clue less.

Since 2009 BMW no longer have swirl flaps and nobody complained about increased fuel consumption.

Similar happened to me. Sacrificed a thin wood chisel to chip off the nut cover then a deep 21mm socket after heating with torch and a ratchet long arm torque wrench.

Since it was a sunny day in South Wales for a change, I took the opportunity to do the egr delete on my 2007 L322 Tdv8 3.6 . All went till I sheared the final torx screw. Luckily this only took an hour to remove. Lesson learned don't overtighten using electric tools 😂. I got the kit from X8R, £££ but good quality.

I've just ordered a new one for my BMW. Issue is, its leaking out of the top where it bolts on to the coolant temperature part. There are no cracks on the part at all. So I can't figure out why it's leaking. The bolts don't need tightening as they won't physically tighten any more than they already are. So I can't figure out why it's leaking from where it is. Nonetheless, I've ordered a new one, very very reluctantly, I may add. This car has been issue after issue.

The alloy plug as an o-ring seal (as you know) so you should have cleaned its seating area prior to fitting (well I would have)

I know this is an older video but I'm still going to leave a response. This is one of those ugly jobs that you have to do. I also believe that this was totally necessary. I was watching someone the other day who was doing the math on what percentage of space that brings in the air to the engine and how much of a reduction in it really was. He calculated that he was losing 45% of airflow due to the carbon buildup. I'm hoping to get this done this week. I'm not under the clock so I can take the extra steps and do things while I'm in there. I am fortunate enough to have a shop size air compressor add a walnut gun. I also plan on using my power washer. If the manifold wasn't so expensive to replace I was just order a new one. I did enjoy your video and I made sure to give you a big old thumbs up. I also hit the subscribe button and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.

I got my kit from x8r today, cheaper kits are available, to try and fix the rough idle and slow response on my L322 Tdv8 3.6 2007, Fingers crossed. I'll let you know how it goes.

Many thanks fixed also. Came up as a 8040B6 fault in my scanner regarding starter relays etc. I have recently swapped engine and gearbox of a F31 335d following a flood incident. I had done exactly what you did. Managed to test it with a jump lead from engine lifting eye to the chassis negative post and Bingo it worked. Saved me lots of beer vouchers! Well done, nice video.

It's not smoke mate its water vapour as It's a water based product. It's preventative not a cure so good on you for using it before a problem occurred.

So, if a mechanic changed out the transfer case on a 2012 toyota 4 runnerand two weeks later the timing chain breaks, could possibly the fault of a mechanic?

So I'm doing a complete engine trans and sub frame removal on my 2011 f10, I have everything removed off the engine and complete front removed. Ex. Dme cable main battery etc... so I moved under the cat and started with the ground strap then moved over to the dive shaft and tried to put in neutral with the side lever which worked but forgot I had the pbrake engaged so I got all the way from under the cat and try to disengage and to my surprise I couldn't lol duh battery was undone so I recon the battery and nothing then I think maybe dme recon dme nothing and for 2 days now in the rain I've been trying to figure it out and with your help I do believe the answer is my trans ground strap is just dangling in the wind 😂. Tomorrow I will gives this a go and see where it lands me thanks👍🏽
